I am single mother of a son with disabilities and four other kids . I was five months pregnant with him when I traveled back to the Niagara in 2019 from Nigeria after attending my father’s funeral. We ended up losing my home. We spent more than a months surfing in family and friends’ homes before seeking help. Me and my kids ended up living in multiple shelter for almost 2-3 years. I was so eager to get out of the shelter that I took the first opportunity that came for an apartment, which was a disaster It was infected, there were drugs in and out of the building. Six months later I was relocated to another apartment that became her new home. But my challenge didn’t stop there. I was unable to work because of her son’s disabilities.
There was only a few nurses that were confident enough to care for his disabilities and the ones that do . I have to give them special instruction and guidance for them for him. I relied on financial assistance from the government to stay afloat. Since I couldn’t work I wasn’t able to afford the furniture required for my whole family. So I needed furniture Donation.
That’s when I started reaching out to friends and family for help. And they suggested me with Niagara Furniture Bank. Niagara Furniture Bank were really amazing with the service they provided me with all the necessary furniture and appliances that i needed for my family too.
