Hi I’m Walter . I live in St Catharine. When I realized that my furniture request from Niagara Furniture Bank was approved I cried. I had been sleeping on my floor just on my blanket for weeks now. Sleeping on the ground has caused further injury to my hips and joints. Which had prevented me from going to work for the past couple of months. The mattresses and other furniture that they provided were truly very comfortable. That was a luxury that I thought I would never be able to afford in my life. I’m still adjusting to the new comfort that I am enjoying in my life. And understanding that thankfully I’m not in survival mode. When I reached out to YMCA for help they recommended Niagara Furniture Bank for me.
I really thank god now that I have a bed to sleep on and I will have a dresser to keep my cloths in rather than just throwing them on the floor. They really helped in get up in life at the worst possible moment. I hope that more of these services may be provided for those in need because I was one of those people who was on the brink of being on the streets.
