So I was living with some of my friends that had their own place in Port Colborne. It was the worst place I had ever lived in. A lot of kids at age 14 or 15 would think I would be living the life not having to go to school and hanging out with my friends all day and partying all night. It was fun for about two months but the house was always dirty and it stunk. There were animal feces everywhere. There barely was any food in the house and when there was, nobody was allowed to eat it. I slept on the floor. People were always moving in and out. There was no hot water, ever! There was always conflict between everyone.

When I finally decided to move out one my way ,it was hell at first. I had nothing at all. Its was an empty basement in Port Colborne with nothing but a table . No mattress no couch , nothing. Then finally I tried contacting as many organizations as I could and Niagara Furniture Bank offered to provide their services. Their furniture delivery  provided the mattresses and other furniture. They provided me with basic kitchen appliances . Which changed my life around. Now i live a happy life thanks to these guys at Niagara Furniture Bank. If they hadn’t offered me a helping hand god knows where I would I have ended up with.

Our Offices are Temporary Closed

For immediate Release – June 7, 2022

Dear Community, Staff, Partners, Donors and Friends,

Niagara Furniture Bank has been an integral part of the community since 2008, we have seen our fair share of ups and downs and have always persevered. The goal of this organization has always been to serve those in need as no one ever deserves to sleep on the floor. Due to the Pandemic, unforeseen circumstances and financial hardship the Niagara Furniture Bank has had to make the hard decision to temporarily close as of May 13, 2022. This decision did not come lightly and we weighed all options prior to closure. Efforts are ongoing to explore the feasibility to continue supporting our community.

We ask for patience, understanding and empathy during this time.

Sincerely,
Niagara Furniture Bank
