What we do and why we do it!

 

Depositphotos_4493469_mNiagara Furniture Bank collects gently used home furnishing in order to provide individuals and families in Niagara Region with the beds, tables, chairs and other furnishings that turn “shelters” into “homes”.

The members of your community that receive these items are referred by organizations like: Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Programs, Canadian Mental Health Association, Public Health, Family and Children’s Services, YWCA – Shelters and Transitional Housing, Hope Centre, Port Cares and Community Care St. Catharines.

 

Since becoming a charity January 1, 2008 Niagara Furniture Bank has been helping families and continues to grow within the Niagara Region. In 2009 when we got our first truck, we served 43 families and individuals. In 2017, we served over 570 household in Niagara Region but still could not serve all the requests we received from our partner agencies.

Our Offices are Temporary Closed

For immediate Release – June 7, 2022

Dear Community, Staff, Partners, Donors and Friends,

Niagara Furniture Bank has been an integral part of the community since 2008, we have seen our fair share of ups and downs and have always persevered. The goal of this organization has always been to serve those in need as no one ever deserves to sleep on the floor. Due to the Pandemic, unforeseen circumstances and financial hardship the Niagara Furniture Bank has had to make the hard decision to temporarily close as of May 13, 2022. This decision did not come lightly and we weighed all options prior to closure. Efforts are ongoing to explore the feasibility to continue supporting our community.

We ask for patience, understanding and empathy during this time.
